Say Yes to the Dress

This past Friday I had another appointment to try on wedding dresses. My mom, SIL, niece & my two grandmas all came with me!
When we first got there I was still super overwhelmed. (not sure why, but picking out a wedding dress has been a lot harder than I thought it would be!) I tried on at least 10 dresses before I finally found THE ONE!

Obviously I'm not going to show y'all my dress but I thought it would be fun to show y'all what I thought I wanted..let me just say, the dress I chose is NOTHING like what I thought I wanted but it's SO perfect!! Some features of my "dream dress" are part of the dress I chose but the over all style and everything is nothing like I had planned on!

We also picked out the bridesmaid dresses while we were there! I'll save those for another day though :)

I am so excited with how well everything is coming together!
We have a lot of fun wedding things coming up in September. Our engagement pictures are September 10th, we have a meeting with the florist on September 11th and my first shower {monograms and mimosas} is on September 16th! We also plan to meet with our caterer in September : )

Top 5 Tuesday!

I am SO excited that Rachel decided to bring Top 5 Tuesday back!! She always has great topics AND I always find awesome new blogs through her link up!

Todays T5T is all about your most worn items in your closet! This was easy for me..

1) J.Crew Chinos. Seriously, I wear these at least 4 times a week. I have them in pretty much every color. They're great because you can wear them with a cute top and some jewelry for a more dressed up look or you can wear them with an XL T-shirt and still look cute. I probably wear them the most with v-neck tee's.. definitely my go-to outfit!

2) I haven't had mine for long but they are quickly becoming something I wear 5-6 times a week! I love my Jack Rogers! Again, you can wear them with a dress or nike shorts and a t-shirt. Love!!

3) White skinny jeans--My favorite pair are the stretch toothpick jeans from J.Crew. I love pairing them with bright colored flowy tanks or shirts and flats.

4) V-neck tee's--My word, I own these in every color ever made. The ones from Target are my favorite. They're inexpensive and they come in great colors!

5) Maxi dresses--I used to hate maxi dresses but this past spring/summer I really got into them! I think they're so great because they're super comfortable but still cute! I love pairing a plain dress with a statement necklace like I did when we got engaged...

What are the most worn items in your closet?? Head over to Just Peachy to link up!!

Mississippi Girl

Last week I took a random trip to Mississippi to see my bloggy BFF Nicole! We have been "friends" for a while now, but met in real life for the first time last fall when Jessica and I went to Oxford for the UGA/Ole Miss game and stayed with Nicole. I love the blog community so much and how someone who is really a complete stranger can feel like a best friend. I talk to so many girls on a daily basis that I have never actually met in real life. It's just fun to find other girls in the same stage of life and into the same things as you!

My mom goes to Southaven & Tupelo Mississippi twice a year for meeting at her company's factory and for shows at the Furniture Market {similar to the Mart in Atlanta only a million times smaller} so when I realized that Southaven was literally 10 minutes from Nicole's hometown I knew I wanted to go with my mom!! We got there late Tuesday afternoon and Nicole picked me up from the hotel & we headed to Memphis for dinner downtown.

I had never been to Memphis before so I was excited to experience a new place! We had dinner and walked around a while before deciding we wanted some ice cream : )

Wednesday was one of the best days I have had in a long time! We woke up and decided to head to Starbucks for breakfast & literally spent the rest of the day in Nike shorts & t-shirts. I told Nicole that I felt like we were "real friends" because usually our visits are filled with activities and we never have time to just hang out! It was BLISS!! We went to dinner with her family that night & let me just say I adore each and every one of them!! I felt right at home and SO welcomed! And just something that Nicole and I think is funny... our last names rhyme & we both have brother's named Brett! ; )

Thursday we got up bright and early and headed to Oxford to pick up some of Nicole's friends! I was SO excited to get to meet them & of course they were as sweet and as cute as can be! We drove 4 hours to Huntsville, Alabama to shop! I know, I know, that sounds ridiculous.. but Nicole & her friends really wanted to go to H&M and they don't have one in Mississippi! I didn't care one bit that we basically drove half way to Atlanta to go to a store that I can go to whenever I want, I was just excited to be with Nicole & her friends!! Luckily we all came away with some great purchases! I can't wait for y'all to see Nicole's outfits she purchased for her and Tyler's engagement pictures!!

I am so glad I got to go to Mississippi & I can't wait to see Nicole again!
{Hopefully in September!!}

Miscellany Monday

Just thought I'd share some randomness with y'all today : )

(1) Since I had to take summer classes all summer I didn't get to go on ANY vacations so when my mom told me she was going to Mississippi for work I knew I wanted to go so I could spend some time with Nicole!! It just so happens my mom has two meetings in the SAME town that Nicole lives in. God just knew we needed some hang out time ; )

(2) I took a trip to the Mart last week with my mom and scored some amazing deals on a few statement necklaces. For those of you who aren't familiar with the Mart it's basically a huge mall type place in Atlanta where buyers can shop to get merchandise for their stores. There are three buildings, the gift mart, the apparel mart, and the merchandise mart. My mom has a showroom in the merchandise mart so I have been going up there for as long as I can remember. You have to have a business license to get in and shop but if you know someone who owns their own business (even if they don't necessarily sell things that can be bought at the mart) you can get in with them. It's great because you buy everything wholesale or less. So all these necklaces I bought were 60% off retail price! I definitely went a little crazy.

The showrooms in the gift mart weren't open so we just did a little window shopping! I can't wait to go back in a few weeks and shop around in here!!! SO much cute stuff!

(3) Nicole shared a great story on her blog this morning about her fiance, Tyler's baptism. She also shared a song that we have been singing a lot at church this summer and I am obsessed with it! It is just a great reminder that NO MATTER WHAT we do God is faithful. Listen to the words of the song because they are SO true!!

(4) Here are a few of my favorite recent Pinterest finds..

Hope y'all have a great Monday!

Meet the Maids!

Today I want to introduce y'all to the lovely ladies who will be standing by my side come wedding day! All of these girls are extremely special to me & I am SO lucky to have all of them as my bridesmaids.

She is married to my brother, Brett, and is the mama of my beautiful niece, Carolyne-Grace! Even though she is my sister-in-law, she is more like a sister. She is one of my best friends and I am so lucky to have her as my MOH ((she has been hard at work since our engagement helping me with everything!!))

She is my cousin and the mama of two of my flower girls, Lila and Ava.We are a lot alike and very different at the same time! We love going to the lake together and just being with our family : )

She is also my cousin! She is one year older than me but has been done with college for two years. She is currently living in Spain and working as an English teacher. She was there on a student visa and that just ran out so we thought she would be coming home, but she ended up getting another job. She is coming home to visit in a few weeks and then going back!

She is one of my best friends! We met in our first college class ever and have been friends ever since. I will never forget meeting her because I thought she had the thickest Southern accent I had ever heard ; ) We are exactly alike and love being together. Seriously one of the best people I know. I have been blessed by our friendship and know that we will be friends forever!!

We met during our Senior year of highschool because the guy I was dating at the time was friends with McKinley's boyfriend, David (who is still her boyfriend!) We became friends but didn't really know each other well until we both moved to Athens. I hung out with McKinley's roommate a lot our first semester so McKinley and I started becoming better friends. We decided to live with each other the next year, and then the two years after that with Katie. McKinley is seriously the funniest person I know and also the most in shape person EVER (so jealous!)

We met during our Senior year of highschool the same way I met McKinley. We hit it of immediately and became the best of friends. We spent the summer before college hanging out all the time. Katie went to West Georgia for two years before transferring to UGA ((but we still were bff!!)). She moved in with McKinley and I and we all lived together for two years. Katie has been a great example in my life and I am so thankful for her loyal friendship!

I have been friends with Lindsey since 6th grade. We cheered together all through middle and high school. She is such a fun person to be around and would do anything for me. We have stayed close friends all through college. She also lived in Athens and we always lived super close to each other. Lindsey is one of those friends that I know I will be friends with for life. Fun fact: I think I've called Lindsey by her real name maybe 10 times in the 12 years we've been friends. As far as I'm conserned, her name is Elb : )

She is my longest friend! I have been friends with her since the summer before we went to 1st grade : ) We met at cheerleading camp : ) We cheered together every year from 1st-12th grade together. We lived together our freshman year of college, which was one of the best years of my life! We now spend every single day together in the education program. We always laugh because we have been friends forever and have literally been in ONE fight. We love to tell the story! In 9th grade our whole little group of friends were at Phoebe's house and we invited some boys over to hang out. Phoebe's boyfriend was there, as well as her ex-boyfriend, and some other guys. Well, I had a little crush on Phoebe's ex-boyfriend and I kissed him that night. ((I know, I'm ashamed of myself..BAD FRIEND!)) and Phoebe was NOT happy. As punishment she sprayed my toothbrush with vanilla body spray from Bath and Body Works!! Then that night when we went to sleep I was asleep on the floor ((I was the nice friend that always let everyone else have the beds! Haha)) Phoebe pushed our friend Kate off the bed so she would fall on me!! We still think this is the funniest story ever because we both hate confrontation!! ((& just for the record Phoebe is NOT a mean person ;) )) & another fun fact: I never call Phoebe by her real name either.. I call her Phob & I have a really bad habit of referring to her as Phob to other people and they never have a clue who I'm talking about (unless they are friends with both of us)

SO there they are..all 8 of 'em!
I love them all so much and am soooo happy that they are my maids ;)

Stay tuned for how I asked them next week!
