J.Crew vs. Old Navy

While out spending some of my birthday money this week I ran into an amazing deal at Old Navy. Select color cords are on sale for $15 (the website actually has them for $12.97)! As soon as I tried them on they immediately reminded me of my J.Crew Toothpick cords... but at a significantly lower price tag! Now don't get me wrong, I love J.Crew as much as anyone, but when I can get basically the same thing (minus the zipper on the ankle--which I really hate anyway) for a fraction of the price I am one happy girl! I actually prefer the Old Navy ones... they are much more comfortable! I snagged up the green pair and am going back to check another ON today for the purple pair since mine didn't have my size :)

Go out and grab some Old Navy Rockstar Pop-Color Cords while they're still on sale!

Birthday Wish List

My birthday is coming up in just a few days [the 29th] so I thought it would be fun to share some things that are on my birthday wish list!

1- Kiel James Patrick Vicker's Bow. I love the black & white one and think it would be perfect for Georgia games!!
2-Urban Decay Naked Basics palette. I think this would be the perfect addition to my everyday makeup collection. I love all of these colors and would get a lot of use out of this!
3-Bunny slippers!! I saw these at Target the other day and want them so bad! Haha I just think they're so cute!
4-Navy Blue Hunter Rain boots. These would match my new rain jacket perfectly and with all this rain and cold weather we've had lately these would definitely come in handy!

Hopefully I'll get one {or all} of the things on my list ; )

Scripture Sunday

I hope y'all are enjoying this weekly series and are committing these verses to memory with me! This is one of my favorite chapters of the bible and this verse specifically is just great. I strive daily to be a Proverbs 31 women. I encourage y'all to read this chapter this week and find out what it truly means to be a Proverbs 31 women.

Happy Sunday!

Student Teaching

Student teaching is a lot more than I thought it would be. It's a lot harder than I thought, a lot more work, a lot more stressful, but also I am LOVING it much more than I thought I would! I seriously have the best class of little first grade babies EVER. I have really enjoyed getting to know them over the last week and a half. I have started doing a lot of small group and one-on-one work with students. Next week I begin taking over whole group teaching. I'm starting out with Reading and am SO excited about it.

Here's a look at a little of what has gone on in 1st grade this past week and a half...

My favorite part of the week was Tuesday when I got called to the front office..
Adam sent me flowers with a sweet little note that said "Keep working hard!" : )
I love him!!

Wedding Wednesday + Love Gives Way

I want to introduce y'all to a company today that I believe is doing a really great thing. Love Gives Way is a group of artists who are coming together to leverage their talents and passions to help rescue and restore those who are stuck in sex trafficking.

Watch this short video to see exactly what LGW is doing and how brides+grooms can partner with them to help support victims of sex trafficking. I have already contacted a videographer and hope to be able to work with him for our wedding. What an awesome blessing that will be to know every time we watch our wedding video that part of our money went straight to a really amazing cause. What could be better?!

Back to School | Teacher Style

As an Early Childhood major I have had to dress "professionally" a lot over the last four years. It is super important that I always look my best when I'm teaching--after all I am basically on a job interview every day that I am at the elementary school. I've learned that it's best to just stick to the basics and leave my more "fun" clothes for the weekends. Of course, it is always fine to add a pop of color or pattern to your outfit, but you want to remember that your number one priority is to choose an outfit that is functionable. Here are three of my go-to outfits for teaching.

1. This is probably the most typical outfit you will see me in. Not only is it comfortable; it's still professional without being stuffy. I have a bunch of patterned and striped tops from Target and Old Navy that I love pairing with my khakis.

2. There are some days that I just really want to dress up. Skirts aren't always functionable, especially in the younger grades when you are on the floor a lot, but for the upper grades this is great. I wore my Jcrew wool skirts a lot when I was teaching fifth. Of course you can never go wrong with the classic Tory Burch Reva. Mine are really broken in so I don't have a problem wearing them all day.

3. This is definitely my favorite type of outfit to wear. We are not allowed to wear jeans so my way of getting around that is to wear my black Old Navy Rockstar Jeans. Are they jeans? ABSOLUTELY, and they are the most comfortable things you will ever put on your body, BUT add a longer top that covers the zipper and cardigan and it instantly makes it look like you're wearing "nice" pants. Can't tell you how many times I have done this and NEVER get questioned. ((I've also worn other Rock Star colored jeans and no one has said anything about them being jeans!))

I know this may not be of interest to many of y'all, but for those of you who are teachers or are student teaching like me, what are your go-to outfits??

**********************************

Beginning today, every Sunday I am going to be sharing some of my favorite scripture with y'all in hopes that y'all will memorize it with me. Memorizing scripture is SO SO SO important. It can be intimidating but I promise it is so worth it. I can't tell you how many times a day scripture will pop into my head during a certain situation and I am able to make a sound decision about something because I know what the bible tells me.

Today's verse comes from today's SheReadsTruth devotional. I *double* heart this passage.

I think we are so quick to try to fix things ourselves without relying on God's help, but He promises right here that he will fight for us... we just have to be still

"We memorize scripture not for our own glory or honor, but for the joy of our Father and the growth of His Truth in our hearts."

Will you join me this week by memorizing this scripture? Print it out and stick it on your mirror or in your car, make it your desktop or iPhone lock screen background.. put it somewhere you will see it everyday!

Happy Sunday!

My oh My What a Wonderful Day!

Since we were going to Orlando for the Capitol One Bowl I wanted to go to Disney for a day! I haven't been since I was 18 months old so I was REALLY excited.
We went on New Years Eve so we knew we needed to get there as early as possible. Adam, Ashley, Andy & I were up and out of our hotel room by 6:30!

As soon as we walked in I started skipping down Main Street singing Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah because I was SO happy to be there!! HA! It was FREEZING but I didn't care.. It seriously is the most magical place on earth!

Here are some pictures from our fun day at Magic Kingdom!

Highlight of the day: Dancing in the Disney parade!! Ha!!

And of course, the real reason we went to Orlando was for the bowl game.
The game was so much fun and I'm so glad we won!!!
Another great season for the Dawgs!
