big things.

I told my mom the other day that it kind of feels like I'm pregnant. We've been hiding a secret for a month waiting to be able to tell everyone.. kind of like when you're pregnant and waiting for your first trimester to end. While our little secret might not be as exciting as a pregnancy announcement, we are pretty dang excited that we BOUGHT OUR FIRST HOME!! We are set to close on September 9th : )

isn't she cute?!

We started the house hunting process about two months ago. We weren't seriously pursuing anything as we are still in a lease in our town house until next summer. We got in contact with a loan company and began the pre-approval process, as well as found a realtor. Both the person we worked with from the loan company and our real estate agent go to our church.

We decided to look at a few houses just to see what our price range would give us. Again, still not seriously looking to buy. We walked in the first house and I immediately recognized pictures on the walls and realized the people who lived in the house also go to our church. At this point it was kind of just funny to me that our loan guy went to our church, our real estate agent went to our church, and now we were look at a house that people from our church live in.

After we left the first house we went and looked at a second house and then headed home. I called my parents and told them about the first house and how much we loved it and hoped it would still be available when we were really ready to buy. Both of my parents told us we needed to seriously consider putting an offer in because of the price/current interest rates. We were kind of caught off guard because that was not our plan. We started thinking about the idea and what it would look like for us to actually pull the trigger NOW instead of down the road like we had planned. We knew it would have to be exactly what God wanted for us because there were so many little details that needed to be worked out for it to work out for us.

We talked about it and decided to go for it. To us it was SO obvious that it was OUR home. Not only does every person we've been working with during this process go to our church, but also this particular house had been under contract TWICE, and both times it fell through. To us these were all signs from God that we should go for it. Needless to say all those little details worked themselves out (including the fact that we needed to find someone to take over our lease!) and we put an offer in the very next day and it was accepted the day after that.

So there it is.. our exciting news that we have been waiting to share!! : )
