Home Sweet Home

Happy Monday, y'all! Usually I am not a big fan of Monday's..but today is a special day for Adam and I. Today we close on our first home together! Even though we have been living together for the past 2 1/2 months that we've been married, we have been living in Adam's townhouse that he shared with 4 other guys throughout college/post-college. I am so thankful for having such a nice place to live our first few months of marriage, but if I'm being honest.. I didn't like it one bit (and I let Adam know that very often..oops!) I tried my hardest to make it my home.. but it just wasn't happening. I couldn't shake the fact that it never felt like "our" home since AKL lived their for 3 years before we got married. To me, it was always "Adam's house." I am so so thankful for the way everything played out and that we are able to make this next huge step and that I will FINALLY have a place that will truly feel like ours. We close at 4:00 p.m. and then the house is all ours! I can't wait to do tons of house posts real soon! Leave a comment with some things you'd like to see (decorating posts, house tour, organization, etc.) I also just wanted to say thank you SO much for sharing in our excitement and being so supportive. I seriously have the best readers. Y'all brighten my days with your sweet e-mails and comments on Instagram : )

A while back I saw this quote on Pinterest. When we first went and saw this house I immediately thought about it. It has quickly become a favorite quote of mine and I can't wait to show y'all how I will be incorporating it into our little house : )

"love grows best in little houses, with fewer walls to separate. where you eat and sleep so close together, you can't help but communicate. and if we had more room between us, think of all we'd miss. love grows best in houses just like this."

Until next time...

  1. YAY!!! Congratulations!

I am so happy for you both and I know exactly how you have felt... i moved into MC's previous digs when we got married, and as lovely as the home was and the little touches I put into it, it still didn't feel like mine. if felt like his moms and then his digs mates.

We are now building our new home and I cannot wait to move in and have our home all to ourselves...

  17. Decorating posts, house tour, organization... how about all three? SO stinking excited for you. New homes are so much fun. When we first moved into our first home (almost a year ago.. wow!) I really struggled with wanting to decorate a certain "style" and felt like I had to choose between all the beautiful ways to decorate. Now I've finally gotten to a point where I just choose what I love- let me encourage you to do the same thing! I'm so glad that y'all will be in the house for the holidays- so fun!

  18. This is so exciting! I was tickled when I first closed on my house, and feel blessed that it was mine and my husband's first home together the first few months after we got married, but before the Air Force moved us out to Las Vegas. We still love that little home. Can't wait to see a house tour and decorating posts, those are always my favorites :)
