easiest diy project ever

I have been in complete home decor mode the last few weeks. I just want it DONE (yes, I know it will never truly be "done", but I would just like some serious progress). We have two blank walls on either side of the window in our kitchen--one of the walls houses our "coffee bar", but the other wall was lacking a bit.

Ever since Nicole made her chicken wire wall I knew I wanted to do something similar. I thought the blank wall in our kitchen was the perfect place to put one! I set out to Home Depot, got some chicken wire (around $10), came home & used a staple gun to attach it to the wall. The whole project from start to finish literally took less than 10 minutes.

I used some wedding pictures, free printables from Pinterest, and wedding/engagement/bachelorette party/baby announcements/invitations (we have a lot going on this year ha!!) to decorate. I grabbed these clothes pins at Wal-Mart a while back ($1 for 24)

I love the way it turned out and I love that I will easily be able to switch things up with different seasons, invitations, etc. I plan to put all the Christmas cards we receive this year on our chicken wire wall.

I'll be back next week with even more home decor projects : )

P.S. Be sure to check out Naptime Diares new 2013 Advent calendar! I ordered mine yesterday and can't wait to figure out how I want to use it in our house this year.

i used to pray...

we've made it through yet another week. we have had a LONG week in third grade. standardized testing is never fun.. but it's especially not fun when you have to do it every.single.day. of the week. just makes for a really interesting (read: non-academic) afternoon. we have spent a lot of time at recess and a lot of time inside enjoying being with each other. if you would have told me a month ago that i would be at the place i am right now with this class i would have laughed in your face. the first month of school was tough, y'all. i was not happy, my kids weren't happy, it was a mess. but we have finally.FINALLY.gotten into a groove with each other and i can honestly say i look forward to spending my days with them. some days i leave school feeling like i have it all together and i am a really good teacher. and other days i don't know if i will make it through the week. but the lord has taught me so so much through these little 8 and 9 year olds and for that i am so thankful. my faith has been pushed to its limits but he always draws me back in and shows me so much grace. i am so thankful for the opportunity to teach. i am thankful for kids who want to learn. i am thankful for my co-workers who make my days so much more entertaining. over the last couple of weeks i have been really trying to figure out my next step. where i want to go. what i want to do with my life. i by no means have it all figured out. heck, i barely have anything figured out. but what i do know is that i will end up right where i belong and i will bloom right where he is planting me. happy friday, y'all. do something this weekend that sparks a fire in you to really really enjoy life. we have so much to be thankful for.

Weekend Rewind

I can't believe it's already Monday. Weekends seem to be flying by faster and faster! This past weekend was spent in Nashville with Adam. We had a great weekend despite the embarrassing UGA loss to Vandy.

We spent the day Saturday tailgating with friends and going to the game.LOVE away games with my husband!
I loved sporting my Crafty Seesters chevron UGA button!

After the game we took a quick nap then headed to The Flying Saucer for dinner. We heard their beer selection was out of this world and we were not disappointed! I was able to get my new fall favorite Lazy Magnolia Southern Pecan--so so good!

After dinner we ventured down to Broadway. We had fun despite the huge crowds everywhere! UGA fans know how to travel and it didn't help that Luke Bryan AND Carrie Underwood were both having shows. We stayed out for a few hours until the crowds got so bad we couldn't move.

We slept in Sunday morning and then headed back home. It was nice to get away for the weekend, but I was glad to get home to my doggies! We have a week off from traveling then it's down to Jacksonville for the UGA/FL game then I'll be off to Charlotte the next weekend for a bachelorette party! My bags pretty much stay packed in the fall ; )

Five on Friday

TGIF. y'all! We made it through yet another week! I am linking up for Five on Friday today : )

(1) This is an especially happy Friday because, like I mentioned earlier in the week, we are headed to Nashville this weekend! I have never been to Nashville before so I am super excited!

(2) I am loving all the fall weather we have had lately. It makes recess a lot more bearable (and my kiddos are happy that their teacher is letting them stay out longer!) This has been one of my favorite "fall" outfits as of late.

[Top: Old Navy // Jeans: Old Navy // Shoes: Tory Burch // Bag: Louis Vuitton]

(3) I have been OBSESSED with this Sally Hansen nail polish recently. Since I'm not completely ready to commit to fall nail colors this has been a great transition color. The color is called 817-Gold Roses

(4) Ever since I picked up the Lorac PRO Pallete at Ulta last week I cannot get enough of it! It has quickly become my go-to pallet. It has every color you could need to create the perfect neutral eye. I love that you can create multiple looks, but still have a soft + neutral feel.

(5) I have finally found some time to finish watching Gossip Girl! Thankfully Season 6 is on Netflix now!! I just finished the series the other night and I am SO sad it's over : (
I am always way behind on T.V. series' because I never have time to watch t.v., but love catching them on Netflix and watching episode after episode for hours on end (when I find myself with spare time)! Do y'all have any suggestions for my next show? Let me know in the comments what your favorite show on Netflix is!

Have a happy + safe weekend!!

*ICYMI: I posted our complete wedding video here

Happy Monday, y'all! I hope y'all had a nice, relaxing weekend. I know I certainly did. I'm going to warn you now..the post is going to be all sorts of random!

Like I mentioned Friday I chose not to go to the Georgia game this weekend and I am SO glad I made that decision. For one, we lost..so that sucked. And two, I was able to get a good 3-4 weeks of math, writing, and science plans done! I still have to plan word study and reading, but I am super happy with all that I accomplished. The amount of time I spend each week planning is ridiculous so it will be nice to have a little more time on my hands to do even more fun stuff for my class!

I really LOVE halloween and even though not all of my kiddos celebrate I still try to incorporate fun fall/halloween type things into their math/literacy centers. My kids LOVE getting to use odd things for manipulatives in math (like fake eye balls ha!).

I also FINALLY went to Home Depot this weekend and got some small dry erase boards cut. I got 32-12x12 boards for $13. I then went to Target and got some fun duct tape to put around the edges. I can't wait to give them to my kids on Tuesday when they are back from their day off today.

Even though my kids have the day off today I still have to be at work. Honestly though I am super excited for a day of planning and actually hanging out with my co-workers. The amount of adult interaction during the day is way too low and drives me CRAZY!

I am looking forward to a 4 day week with my students then it is off to Nashville for the weekend! I love that UGA football allows us to go all over for games. It's so fun experiencing new cities (even if it does break the bank every weekend)!! If you have any suggestions for places to eat/shop in Nashville let me know!

Hope y'all have a great day!

Our Wedding Video

Hey y'all--comin at you with a late Friday night post because we got our wedding video today and I couldn't wait one second longer to share it!!

This is literally our WHOLE wedding so I won't be offended if you fast forward through some parts ; )

Let me know what you think!! Enjoy!

Five on Friday

We made it through another week, y'all! & this Friday is especially happy for me because it marks the end of the first nine weeks of school... I made it through an entire quarter! Only 3 more to go until Summer ; ) It hasn't been easy, but I have definitely settled into a routine with my kids and have found a groove for myself as far as planning and preparing go. Here's to hoping the 2nd nine weeks is even better!

Today I'm linking up for Five on Friday : )

1) I love this post from Megan. I too love watching YouTube beauty channels and totally agree with her list of top beauty gurus. You should definitely check out her post. YouTube beauty channels are just like blogs.. but video ; )

2) This weekend UGA has a home game against Mizzou. For the first time in FOREVER I will not be going to the game. I gave up my ticket to watch the game at home..by myself..in my pajamas..while I plan for the 2nd nine weeks of school. I have been on the go every single weekend since school started and I just need a break. We will be traveling to Nashville and Jacksonville in the coming weeks for games so I am taking this opportunity to get in a little "me" time and get caught up on school work.

3) Monday is a student holiday so I will be spending my day at the school in meetings and planning with my grade level. I am looking forward to a day of catching up and getting ahead! I also plan on filming a tour of my classroom for Teacher Talk!

4) I bought the Lorac Pro palette this week and have been LOVING it! The colors are perfect for everyday wear and the pay-off is amazing. Definitely a great buy!

5) I have really been enjoying bubble baths lately! I looked forward to my little nightly routine of lighting a candle, taking a bath, and watching YouTube videos ; ) Ha!

I hope y'all had a wonderful week and have a great weekend!
See ya back here on Monday!

bless be the tie + giveaway

I don't know about y'all, but I despise wearing my hair in a ponytail. For one, my hair is super thick and ponytail holders usually leave me with a horrible headache by the end of the day. Another reason is the ugly crease that regular ponytail holders leave in my hair. When I'm teaching I usually like to throw my hair up about half way through the day or when I'm working on the floor with my kids, but I'm always hesitant to do it because I don't want a crease in my hair.

When Katie from Bless be the Tie contacted me about reviewing her product I was thrilled! I love these type of hair ties but only had one (that was a free gift from Marley Lilly and was completely falling apart). The last week I have been wearing my hair ties during the school day and have been so pleased with their quality! Not only do I not have a crease in my hair at the end of the day, I also don't have a headache which is a HUGE perk for me!

I had to add this one--look at Hampton in the window!!! : ) : )

Katie was so sweet and let me pick out a set of hair ties to review AND a set to giveaway to one of my readers.
