wedding weekend

just wanted to pop in real quick and wish our friends, andy and ashley a happy wedding weekend!! andy is adam's best friend and was the best man in our wedding and ashley is my football partner in crime.

andy and ashley took a short break from their relationship in college and that is about the time that adam and I started dating so andy was our 3rd wheel frequently : ) we became great friends and I am so glad that my husband has such a loyal best friend.

ashley is the only person on this planet that understands me when it comes to football. we know that our husband's will be at every single game no matter what (home and away) and we know that we will be with them most of the time. it's nice to have someone that gets it! we have so much fun together at games--I wouldn't make it through a season without her.

I'm so excited to enjoy their wedding weekend in Athens!!

bread & wine

during our home buying process the one thing I kept telling Adam I wanted more than anything was a space to host. I wanted a large, open living room and kitchen where I could easily entertain and host events. I have always enjoyed hosting. It's my thing. luckily, my husband is the same way. we've always had an open door policy. There aren't many days that this home isn't filled with people besides the two of us. and we LOVE that. If it were up to us we would literally have people in our home every night.

this past week I read shauna niequist's book bread and wine and my hosting loving heart is was full. but while I love to have people over I don't so much love the cooking part. my kind of party is one where everyone brings appetizers...and then I go to the store and buy a veggie tray. or make buffalo chicken dip
(which I could do with my eyes closed at this point). but after reading this book it has made me realize that my fear in trying to cook comes from the fact that I don't think I'm good at it.. I have fallen into the lie that since I can't cook a 5 course meal that I can't cook anything. this is such a lie. and one that I've been trying to work through since we got married. I've decided that the only way I will ever be "good" at cooking is if I just try. what's the worst that can happen, right? : ) here's to tackling my (crazy stupid) fear!

ATL blogger weekend

this past weekend I got the chance to hang with some of my favorite blog girls. rachel, bre, and I have been planning our little weekend for a while and we were so glad we got the chance to make it happen. there's just something about spending time with people who truly "get you". the blog world is kind of a world of its own and unless you're a part of it it's hard to understand. the idea of meeting people on the internet and creating real, authentic, relationships with them is very foreign to some people. I am so thankful that this blog has led me to such genuinely awesome people. we have so many similarities and so many differences but we just work and I love it!!!!

friday afternoon bre picked me up from my school and we did a little shopping around atlanta before meeting up with rachel at her apartment. we went to mellow mushroom for dinner+drinks and spent hours catching up since we hadn't seen each other since summer. even though I talk to these girls daily through social media and texting there is only so much you can say so it was nice to hear what is REALLY going on in their lives :)

we woke up early saturday and headed to the mart. bloggers+the mart=great times!! we loved looking at all the fun home accessories and clothes and jewelry. we all walked away with some fun purchases. we are excited to go back  for the july show :)

afterwards we headed to atlantic station and westside provisions to do some more shopping+ice cream eating.

finally later in the afternoon we met up with lindsey! we sat on rachel's couch for a few hours talking about all things blogging--it was so much fun! we decided to take it easy again (PARTY ANIMALS!) and grab mexican for dinner.

sunday morning we were up early and out the door for brunch. I unfortunately could not stay and eat because I went back to the mart again but I did get to take part in a little photo shoot action before I left ; )

blogging friendships are the most unique thing in my life and I absolutely LOVE these people!!

our new ((neutral)) kitchen

an item that has been on my to-do list for a while has been to paint. at first I though I wanted to re-paint the entire interior of our house, but I quickly realized that would be a HUGE project to tackle as our ceilings would have to be painted as well (they are the same color as the walls). I decided to just paint the kitchen instead. here's what our kitchen looked like when we first looked at the house...not terrible, but I just wasn't a fan of how dark the red made our home look and as a neutral loving girl I was having a hard time decorating this space...

I decided I really wanted to brighten things up! I went with sherwin williams lightweight beige (thanks to victoria!!) and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out.

Thankful that my dad is always so helpful and willing to go along with my crazy painting ideas!

and the final product : )

my mind is already racing about things I can do to this space to make it even better : ) first up on the list..get rid of our god awful table + chairs! ; ) what do y'all think of the change?!

and just because I'm a sucker for before and afters...
