Football in the Classroom

Obviously I am a huge Georgia football fan and always like to incorporate it into my classroom in any way possible. With the start of football season coming this weekend we are spending the week doing some fun football type activities!

Here are two things we have done so far this week....

My teammate Nicole and I made this fun football field for the hallway. We are going to track the student's progress on their addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division time tests. Each time they make a 100 on the test they will move their football down the field. We think this will be a fun way for student's to track their progress and celebrate Georgia football ; )

The next thing we are starting this week is a graph for the total points scored each game. Every Monday after a game weekend we are going to graph the total points Georgia scored during the previous game. Since we do a lot of work with graphs in third grade we thought this would be a fun way to practice.

Happy college football weekend!!

P.S. I am still working on my complete classroom tour--it's taking a lot longer to get pictures of everything than I thought! Should be able to post it sometime next week though : )

25 weeks

Here we are, another few weeks down! It's so hard to believe that in just two weeks I will be in my third trimester. Weeks 23 and 24 were by far my favorite weeks of pregnancy so far. I feel like I have finally reached a good place with this pregnancy and am feeling really really good!

how far along: 25 weeks, 1 day! Only 15 weeks (or less) to go : )

baby size: We haven't had an ultrasound since 18 weeks, but he is still measuring ahead of schedule according to my belly measurements. He should be around 13 1/2 inches and 1 1/2 pounds. Roughly the size of a rutabaga (I have no idea what that is...)

baby's progress: BT is still growing and kicking away.

weight gain: This girl has put on a few lbs since the last update. 2 weeks ago at the doctor I was up 12 lbs. I'll chalk it up to the fact that I can finally eat.

stretch marks: Nope, & so thankful!

sleep: Still pretty good thanks to my Snoogle pillow

gender: BOY BOY BOY!! Bennett Tucker : )

Bennett has been moving a ton lately and making his presence well known. He is extremely active after I take a shower and relax on the couch. Adam and I (okay, really more me..) love sitting and watching my belly. It's so fun to be able to see his movements from the outside.

best moment this week: making it another full week with NO meds!!!! See ya Zofran! FINALLY!

looking forward to: Finishing the nursery! I have it roughly planned out but have to make a few more big purchases before I will be able to start on the decorative parts. So far though I am loving how it's turning out.

food cravings: No cravings recently.

weirdest food I ate this week: I had nachos and cinnamon rolls for dinner one night..and I don't feel bad about it at all.

anything making you queasy or sick: NO, & THANK YOU JESUS! Y'all have no idea how excited I am that I have officially be Zofran free for almost 2 full weeks. Being constantly sick for 23 straight weeks is no fun at all. Here's to really enjoying the rest of my pregnancy!

labor signs: Nope

what I miss: Being able to wear regular pants.... I still have a few pairs that I can wear but they aren't the comfiest. The rubber band trick and belly band are working like a charm right now.

symptoms: Honestly, other than my belly getting pretty big recently I have been feeling so good!

things that suck: No more mid-day naps. I really think teachers should get a small nap time..

things that don't suck: Feeling better. I truly am so thankful that right as I went back to work my sickness pretty much went away over night. I was so worried about starting a new school year dealing with morning all day sickness. Work has been going SO good and my class is THE BEST.

Ready for Fall!

I don't know about y'all but the start of the new school year always gets me in the mood for fall. I can't wait for crisp mornings, riding boots, UGA football, hot Starbucks drinks, pumpkin patches and Leaves candles!! Not to mention our sweet baby boy will be making his debut at the end of fall (which makes me REALLY excited for fall maternity pictures : )

I have gone a little "fall crazy" on Pinterest this week and thought I'd share some of my favorite pins..

What are you most excited about for fall??

Baby Bennett Fashion

Ever since I found out we are having a boy I have dreamed of dressing him like a mini Adam. If there is one thing my husband has it is amazing style! The boy never leaves the house without looking perfect. He has more clothes than me and currently takes up 2 closets in our house! I love that Adam cares about his appearance and I know Bennett will look just as cute in all his clothes ;)

My friend from work, Nicole, told me about a huge consignment sale that she goes to every year. We went together this week and I found some really great pieces for a STEAL! I got five things for less than $30. There was SO much to look at and I really had to stop myself from going crazy because it was all so good.

Here are my purchases for B...

Obviously had to get this UGA jon jon! It is a 6 month so I don't know if he'll even be able to wear it next season but it was only $10 so I figured I can at least squeeze him into it for the first game!

This will be perfect for Braves games next summer! I think the "B" is for baseball...but to me it's for Bennett ; )

I about lost it when I saw this one...it has mini daddy written all over it!! I can't wait to pair this with some khaki shorts/pants and sperrys..Ahhh!!

I literally cannot handle it. I can't wait to see MY BABY in these clothes! (only 16 weeks left!)

From the Classroom

Our new school year has begun and I am so excited to share more about what I'm doing in my classroom this year. Obviously being a teacher is a huge part of my life and takes up most of my time during the school year, so why not share!? We are half way done with our first week of school and, fingers crossed, I have a pretty awesome class so far! We have already done some really fun activities together.

This year my school is implementing STEM so I wanted to do something STEM/team building related the first week of school. We did this activity as teachers during pre-planning and I thought my students would enjoy it too!

All you need are spaghetti sticks, marshmallows, string, and tape (I also gave them a pair of scissors). I let my students pick their own groups and gave them thirty minutes to build the highest tower with their marshmallow on top. It was fun to watch the students work together and come up with a design. Although only one group's structure actually stayed up at the end I was still really impressed with how well they worked together and how interesting their designs were! Activities like these tell you a lot about the students in your class.

(while I was taking this one, one of my students said "send this to all your friends"..so here I am, sharing with all my friends ; )

After the thirty minutes were up we talked about things they learned that would help them if they were to do this challenge again. One of the biggest things they said was to conserve their materials. Several groups ran out and weren't able to complete their structure because of it. I will probably do it again sometime mid-year to see if they can do it any better : )

Also--I'm going to be sharing my classroom tour once I can remember to take my camera to school (#PregnancyBrain!) so be on the lookout for that!

2. work on plans for the first few weeks back to school.
3. host a wedding shower
4. start on b's nursery!!!

At the beginning of the month we slipped out of town for a long weekend to crash Nicole and Tyler's vacation to Savannah! We were able to spend four days with them and it was a great trip : ) They even stopped in Athens for a night on their way home. So thankful for our friendship with the Cole's!

I spent a few days in my classroom this month getting things ready for back to school! I have a rough idea of what I will be doing over the first few weeks and I am really excited to get back. There's just something about back to school time that is so refreshing to me.

At the end of the month I hosted a wedding shower at my house for one of my best friends, Phoebe! She is getting married in September and we had a very fun monograms and mimosas shower for her (I will share more pictures soon!)

Also at the end of the month we finally started on Bennett's nursery. I had really been struggling with what exactly I wanted to do in his room but once I FINALLY made a decision on a paint color it all started to come together.
