Essential Oils

After posting this picture on Instagram I had several people ask me to do a blog post on using essential oils! I have been using oils for only a short period of time but I have noticed a significant difference in my sleeping and overall mood. Nicole gifted me a diffuser and a lavender oil for my birthday and I was instantly hooked! We started using the diffuser at night time when Bennett was still sleeping in our room and all three of us slept so good. At just 9 weeks old Bennett started sleeping through the night.

After using lavender for a while I knew I wanted to invest in the large premium starter kit to try out more oils and I am SO glad I made that decision. The cost was something I had to talk myself into but honestly it is so worth it. There are SO many uses for EO's that I never even knew of before I started using YL.

Now we have a diffuser in Bennett's room and in our room. I move the one from our room to the kitchen when we're not sleeping (I want to eventually get a third one for the kitchen). The last few weeks with all the terrible weather we've had I have been diffusing a blend of lemon, joy, and purification and it is heavenly! I also used a similar blend to clean the counters and mop the floors.

Diffusing isn't the only way to use EO's but it is the way we have been using it most. I have used peppermint for a headache and a mix of thieves, lemon, and purification for a sinus infection and had great results with both but I want to wait a little while before I share our full experience using oils topically just because we haven't done it enough to really give a good review.

If you are interested in trying out EO's send me an e-mail ( & we can chat! I can also order individual oils if you want to do that to begin with : )

Nicole wrote a great post on social media that I would encourage you to check out HERE. After reading her post it really got me thinking about my own social media use and a decision that I made last week regarding it. This past week I kind of hit a breaking point and had to have a come to Jesus meeting with myself to force myself to PUT.THE.PHONE.DOWN. I decided right then to delete all the social media off my phone and just see where things went from there. After a restful weekend of absolutely zero social media time I realized exactly what God wanted from me. Each weekend I am going to delete all the social media apps on my phone and spend quality time with my family. This past weekend was one of the best I can remember. It was full of sunshine and intentional time with my boys, and you know what? when I went to re-download all my apps on Monday.. I didn't crave them as much. I have spent very little time on Instagram, Twitter, etc. this week and it just feels good. I had become so dependent on my time online and it was really affecting me. I am a seriously busy person and I should not be spending the little free time I have plugged in to a device. What ways have y'all limited social media in your lives? Always looking for suggestions in this area!

Bennett | 3 Months

Month three has been SO much fun! Bennett is really starting to develop a little personality and I think it's the cutest thing in the world when he laughs. He thinks I am crazy when I make faces at him and he tries to copy me. We got settled into our new routine with me going back to work and things seem to be going pretty good. My husband is an absolute ROCKSTAR and gets Bennett up in the mornings, gets him dressed & fed, and takes him to my parent's house or daycare. I hate not being able to see Bennett in the mornings but it makes our afternoons and night time together that much sweeter : )

Weight/Length: I will update after his next dr's appt but my guess is around 14-15lbs. I'm guessing his length is somewhere around 24in.

Hair: Still brown but a lot more blonde is starting to show through. He is still losing quite a bit in the's pretty funny looking. I have to brush his hair a certain way after his bath or it will look insane.

Eyes: Very blue

Clothes: 3-6 months

Diapers: Size 1

Sleeping: Bennett gets a bath at 7:30, bottle at 7:45-8, swaddled and asleep by 8:30-8:45. He sleeps until we wake him up at 6:30 this next morning. He has been sleeping through the night in his crib for the last month and it has been a game changer! Diffusing lavender in his room at night has been so helpful with getting him to sleep quickly and helping him stay asleep.

Likes: Being swaddled, car rides, walks, his paci, waking up in the morning (happiest guy in the world when he wakes up!), and sucking on his hands.

Dislikes: Being hungry, getting out of the bath, having a dirty diaper, breaking out of his swaddle and having cold hands.

Eating: Bennett eats 5oz bottles every 3.5-4 hours during the day. At night he gets a 6oz bottle before bed.

Milestones: Bennett hit a lot of fun milestones this past month..sleeping through the night (!!!), laughing, playing with his hands, holding toys, and holding his body up during tummy time : )

Baby items we can't live without: MamaRoo, Fisher Price sit-me-up floor seat, Rock n Play, velcro swaddles, Wubanub pacis, and his dog lovey. I want to do a post soon on our first three month essentials..a video maybe?!

March Goals

Hallelujah spring is coming! I am BEYOND ready for warm weather. We had a tiny a peak at what its like to be out in the sunshine yesterday and it was amazing. I gave my kiddos a little extra recess so we could really enjoy the nice weather. Hopefully in the next few weeks the warm weather will be here to stay!

I went back to check my February goals post...and realized I didn't even put them in the blog post!!! (#MOMMYBRAIN!!) Anyway.. I'll just move right along to March and pretend that never happened.

March Goals
1. Create a consistent workout plan
2. Take Bennett on a walk after work at least 3x/week (weather permitting)
3. Keep researching essential oils (we have already used them a ton and are loving the results so far!)
4. Finish the final plans for Jessica's bachelorette party in New Orleans!
5. Make a spring cleaning to-do list

I have a busy month ahead but I am ready to take it on full speed. I am officially counting down the days to the last day of school and the start of a summer of fun with my Bennett!
