Show & Tell Tuesday: What's in a Name?



I'm linking up with Andrea today for Show & Tell Tuesday! Today's topic is "What's in a Name?" I always love hearing how other people come up with their baby's names so I thought it would be fun to share ours as well.

When we first got pregnant we started throwing around different boy and girl names. We talked about it all day every day and could never agree! Any name I would suggest Adam either didn't like it or knew someone with the name. He didn't really offer many suggestions just declined a lot of mine ; )

I was flipping through a Pottery Barn Kids magazine one day and saw the name "Bennett" on the wall of one of the rooms. I suggested it to Adam and he loved it! We were happy to have a boy name but wanted to pick a girl name out too, just in case. We spent weeks trying to come up with a girl name when one day Adam suggested we name the baby Bennett even if it was a girl. I loved it! I love boy names for girls and I really did love the name Bennett. We figured we would just give her a really girly middle name to even it out ; )

Even though we had a name picked out for a boy and a girl I KNEW we were having a boy..and I was right!

We weren't trying to be super original with his name but of course as soon as we had him I met 46790725 other baby Bennett's... He has two at daycare with him and one at church. Oh well.

After we had our gender ultrasound that confirmed what I already knew we started talking middle names. Since Bennett isn't a family name I really wanted his middle name to be. We decided on Bennett Payne because Payne is Adam's mom's maiden name. We loved the way it sounded but ended up changing it a few weeks later when Adam said he liked the middle name Tucker better. Even though it wasn't a family name I was okay with it : ) I am glad we changed it because it fits him perfectly.

So there you have it.. how we came up with Bennett Tucker's name..our sweet BT!

Family Pictures

A couple weeks ago when Nicole was in town she snapped some quick pictures for me! I wanted her to take some of Carolyne-Grace and Bennett to give to my mom for Mother's Day! The pictures turned out so cute and I'm glad we got a couple extra of me and Adam with Bennett too ; )

Bennett's First Beach Trip

One of the biggest perks of being a teacher is being able to take advantage of spring break! Since Adam just started his new job we weren't sure if we would be able to go anywhere but we worked it out to leave late Friday night and come home Wednesday so he didn't miss too many days. We decided to go to Siesta Key where Adam grew up going his whole life. His parents came with us and it was the best few days with my little family!

When we first got there we went to Marina Jack's and took Bennett on a walk to show him the boats. He really hasn't been outside a ton since he was born so it was fun to see him getting excited about everything : )





We spent time at the pool and beach a couple times and took a day to go shopping at St. Armand's circle. It was also Bennett's first Easter & first time eating rice cereal & baby food.






It was fun for Adam to show me around where he grew up going and I loved being able to create this memory with my family! I'm already looking forward to our summer trip to St. Augustine (& Disney for a day!)

#BikiniSeries Goals

Today starts my 8 week Bikini Series with Tone it Up and I wanted share some of my goals and intentions for the next 8 weeks. I think it is really important to have a focus and a mission when trying to complete something like this so these are the five things that I will be working on over the next 8 weeks...

I am still about 15lbs away from my pre-pregnancy weight and I really think these last few lbs will start dropping off once I stick to a committed workout/eating plan.

Lemon essential oils work to detox your body and help you start your day on a fresh note. I have been drinking a ton of lemon EO water lately, but I want to make it a consistent habit to start my day with a glass.

I'm not a huge meat eater but I really want to try incorporating more lean meats into my diet. Not only will this help with muscle gain but will help me to try new recipes as well..something that I am admittedly terrible about doing.

I am using the Beach Babe Set the Bar tracking sheet to help me keep track of my progress as I go through the bikini series, but I want to be consistent with sharing my results on social media. This may be boring to most people but I want to do it to keep myself accountable.

No matter what I feel like, no matter what the weather is like, I want to get active in someway every day. If I can't get in a workout then I want to at least do some yoga or take Bennett on a walk. I want exercise to become a consistent part of my everyday life.

Baby Weight Loss

I'll admit when I was pregnant I was a reckless eater! I never felt good and would basically just eat anything that sounded like it would satisfy me. After I gave birth I still ate whatever I wanted and just assumed the weight would fall off. I've always been a naturally "smaller" person and I've never really worried about my weight so I was definitely naive to what my body was doing.

After a couple months of very little change I realized if I wanted to get my body back the way it was pre-Bennett (or close to that anyway because let's be honest I'll never get back the body I had before) I was going to have to make some changes.

Over the last few weeks I have made a conscience effort to eat cleaner and work out more. Adam and I have switched to mainly all organic, natural products and cut out fast food (except Chickfila because I will never give that up!). I was SHOCKED at how quickly my body started bouncing back. I'm still no where near where I want to be but it is encouraging to see improvements.



Two things that have been really helpful are my Tone it Up DVD's and my Young Living Essential Oils! I workout 3-5 times a week and take walks as much as possible. I have been drinking a ton of water with lemon EO to help detox and using PanAway after workouts to help with sore muscles.

This is such a new way of living for me but I am excited about how good I feel not only physically but emotionally and mentally as well.

April Goals



March Goals
1. Create a consistent workout plan
2. Take Bennett on a walk after work at least 3x/week (weather permitting)
3. Keep researching essential oils (we have already used them a ton and are loving the results so far!)
4. Finish the final plans for Jessica's bachelorette party in New Orleans!
5. Make a spring cleaning to-do list

I am proud to say I created, and stuck with, a consistent workout plan the entire month. I started using the Tone it Up DVD's and I love them! This combined with clean eating and essential oils to detox and recover and I am starting to feel bikini ready for the summer!

The weather didn't really work in my favor this month but we went on walks pretty much every day that we could. If the weather was bad we went to Target for our walk ; ) Being on the go saves our sanity until bath time!!

I definitely used our oils a lot more this month especially for health reasons. I have been drinking a ton of water with lemon EO and using PanAway to help with muscle soreness after working out. We still diffuse lavender at bed time too.

I spent the weekend in New Orleans for my best friend's bachelorette party! Let's just say this was one worn out mama after that trip.. I think I got a total of 4 hours of sleep the entire weekend. It was definitely a fun getaway but I'll be honest, I don't think I'll be able to leave Bennett that long ever again. I cried like a baby when I got back home and saw him!

Spring cleaning is one of my favorite things to do! There is just something about the warm weather that makes me want everything to be purged and organized. We do a pretty good job of consistently keeping our house clean but since we do live in a smaller home (1400 sq ft) things tend to get cluttered easily (drawers, closets..) so I'm excited to get those areas cleaned out during the month of April. I have a plan and I'm ready to get started!

2. Continue workout plan + start the Tone it Up Bikini Series
3. Start the envelope system again (admittedly, we have been slacking in the financial department lately and we are both eager to get back on the Dave Ramsey train!)
4. Spring cleaning

Bennett | 4 Months



I don't know what it is about month 4 but it just sounds so old to me! Bennett is a dream child and literally makes me melt every second of every day. He is so much fun and so stinking cool! We just wrapped up a few days at the beach and as expected Bennett loved the water!

Weight/Height: Bennett has his 4 month appointment on Thursday so I will update after that. My guess is he is pushing 15 lbs & 23 in.

Hair: His hair is getting SO much lighter. We spent a significant amount of time outside this month so I have a feeling this summer when we are outside a ton it's going to continue to lighten up. He also lost a ton of hair this month. Poor guy looks so funny.. the back of his head is practically bald and the hair on the top is really long. Too funny!

Eyes: Bennett's eyes are extremely blue still. They keep getting lighter and lighter.

Clothes: Mostly 3-6 months right now, will probably transition to 6-9 soon since his chest is wide and every shirt is tight! Pants/shorts are 0-3 still..#ShortLegProbs

Diapers: Size 1

Sleeping: Bennett goes to sleep at 7:30-8:00 and sleeps until 6:30-7:00 the next morning. We are starting to transition out of the swaddle and he has been sleeping with one arm out for the last week or so. We will probably move the second arm out after another week or two. We are still diffusing lavender in his room each night and after not having it at the beach these last few days I am so anxious to get back to using it since Bennett slept terrible the whole time we were gone. Word to the wise.. DO NOT go on vacation without your essential oils!

Likes: Still loving bath time and walks! This kid would stay outside all day if we would let him. We also discovered his love for T.V. this month ha! We don't like to turn the T.V. on too much but during his witching hour (5-7) it's nice to have a little Mickey Mouse Clubhouse as a distraction ; )

Dislikes: Being hungry or tired

Eating: Bennett drinks a 6oz bottle every 3-3.5 hours. He is still pretty scheduled with his feedings and pretty much sticks to his times each day. We transitioned to 6.5oz bottles and started baby food this week!

Milestones: Teething was in full force this month! His bottom two teeth have been trying to poke through for weeks. He had a few rough nights of sleep because of it but has been doing much better lately.

Baby items we can't live without: Fisher Price Sit-Me-Up Floor Seat, WubbaNub Paci, Britax B-Agile stroller, and lavender essential oil!

I can't believe how fast time is going and although I wish it would slow down it has been so fun watching Bennett develop so much recently!
