Our Trip to Boston

This post has the potential to be extremely long so bare with me : )

This past week Adam and I, along with our good friends Andy and Ashley, headed up to Boston for a few days of fun, food, baseball, and LOTS of walking. This was mine and Adam's first time to Boston (first time up North, really) and we really enjoyed our time in the city.

I had a few major take aways from our trip with the first being how ridiculously CLEAN Boston was! I really liked the "small town" feel that the city gave off and felt like everyone really took pride in where they were from. Another take away was the accessibility to everything in the city via public transit. We didn't rent a car and took the T everywhere which was something new for me. If you've ever been to Atlanta you know how terrible our transit system is so it was fun to ride on one that was well ran and super clean! Lastly, Fenway Park! Obviously this is a Boston staple and somewhere that every baseball fan dreams of going to. I'm not an over the top baseball fan but I do enjoy going to Braves games and have grown up hearing all about Fenway park. We went to two games and both were so much fun!

We flew out of Atlanta early Monday morning and arrived in Boston early afternoon. We took the T to our hotel in the Back Bay area. We stayed at The Midtown Hotel. The hotel was in a great location and we were only about a mile from everything! When we arrived at our hotel we changed clothes and quickly hit the streets. We stopped for lunch first at a cute little farm to table place called B.good. After we ate there we kept seeing them everywhere so I assume they are fairly popular in the area. I had a burger & fries and it was delicious. A place like this would do really well in Athens! It was quick, affordable, and best of all HEALTHY! We spent the rest of the afternoon walking around Boston Public Garden and stopped by the Cheers bar! We also shopped up and down Newbury street which was really fun. Eventually we made it back to our hotel and got ready for dinner. Adam's main goal on this trip was to eat lobster so we decided to go to Summer Shack. Adam had oysters and lobster and I had fish and chips. Adam loved his meal but I thought mine was just okay. Afterwards we headed over to the stadium area and had drinks at Bleacher Bar. I thought this place was really neat because of the big window that sits eye level with center field in Fenway. People can eat/drink during the game and watch from the window. We ended our night at Blazing Paddles, a ping pong bar! We didn't play but it seemed like a fun place to hang out. There was another big window in this bar that looked into the bull pen at Fenway.

On Tuesday we decided to take the T and explore Harvard's campus. We spent a couple hours over there before it started raining and we decided to head back. We stopped for lunch at the Prudential Center and did a little shopping in there before it was nap time ; ) After we all took good two hour naps we were up and ready for our first Redsox game! We had great seats right behind Pesky's Pole. It was so much fun being in American's oldest ball park!

Wednesday was a day for the books. We conquered over 13 miles and over 30,000 fitbit steps!!! We started out with a quick breakfast at a local cafe (I don't remember the name..but it wasn't that great anyway) before heading over to the Freedom Trail. I was super excited to do this and it was well worth all the walking. On our way back from completing the trail we stopped at Feneuil Hall for some more shopping and lunch. We only had a few minutes to eat/shop because we had a 3:00 tour of Fenway to get to. The tour of Fenway Park was one of my favorite parts of the trip. I love learning the history of places and why certain things are the way they are. I also love useless facts..like the ladder on the green monster is not used at all they just like the way it looks. After our tour we caught a yummy dinner at a local bar near the stadium (I don't remember what it was called). I had a bacon cheeseburger and it was easily the best meal of the trip! After dinner we waited in line for the gates to open and raced up to our seats on the green monster! It was so much fun watching the game from there and I would highly recommend it to anyone who goes to a Redsox game!

Thursday we were up early and headed to the airport. Even though we had a great time with our friends we were soooo excited to get home to Bennett! He was in great hands spending the first two days with my parents and the last two days with Adam's parents. There was no shortage of love and spoiling for our baby while we were gone. So thankful for awesome grandparents!!

We have already decided we definitely want to try to go back next summer. We thought it would be fun to extend our trip a day or so and go out to Cape Cod or Nantucket.. definitely a dream of mine to see those places!

Thanks to everyone for all your suggestions on things to do while we were in Boston!

Bennett's First Trip to Disney!

We are currently vacationing in St. Augustine this week and decided to head over to Orlando and go to Disney for the day! I was a little worried about taking Bennett since he is only 6 months old but he did SO good! He was seriously so happy all day & we were super thankful for that. We went with my parents, Carolyne-Grace, my cousin, her husband, their twin girls, and my aunt while the rest of the fam stayed back in St. Augustine! CG was excited to show everyone around since she "has been to Disney so many times and knows where everything good is." ; )

Here are some pictures from our day at the M A G I C - K I N G D O M!!

Sneak Peek!

Teacher friends--I am super excited about a little project I have been working on recently. Here is a little sneak peek at what's to come ; )

What I'm loving Wednesday

I haven't done a What I'm Loving Wednesday in years and just felt like being random today so yay!

-I am loving that I am a teacher. Not only do I LOVE my job during the school year but I also get the opportunity to spend time with my son over the summers. Today Bennett had his six month well check and I was so incredibly thankful to be able to take him to a doctor appointment on a random Wednesday at 11:30am. This is something I normally wouldn't be able to do. I know it's silly but it really did make me so happy.  I love being with him and we have had such a fun summer already!

-I am loving that Father's Day is coming up. Bennett and I have been busy trying to come up with something for Adam. I think we have finally decided and are going to go tomorrow and pick it up ; )

-I am loving that this weekend we have my best friend's wedding and then we are headed out of town for a whirlwind three week vacation. We will be in St. Augustine for 7 days, then home for 1, then Boston for 4, home for 3 and finally Savannah for 4 days. I am excited to get out of town & spend time with my boys!!

-I am loving that while we're in St. Augustine we will be going to Orlando for the day to go to Disney World. Bennett's outfit came in today and it made me even more excited to go! I know he is only 6 months old and will have no idea what's going on but we are also taking my niece who is almost 5 and my cousin's two little girls who are 3 so it will be a fun day : )

Weekend Links

Happy weekend, y'all! Coming at ya with a super random Saturday post...

Did y'all see Rachel Parcell's nursery reveal on Pink Peonies?! SO beautiful & it definitely left me hoping we have a baby girl one day.

I started a Donor's Choose project for my classroom next year! Check it out HERE. Give to my classroom by June 9th and your donation will be doubled thanks to Donor's Choose. Just enter the code SPARK on the payment page and you'll be matched dollar for dollar (up to $100)!!

I've been looking for a new summer fragrance and think I've narrowed it down to a few options. Has anyone tried the Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt or Bobbi Brown Beach ?? I'm leaning more toward the Bobbi Brown but wanted to see if anyone had opinions on either..

She Reads Truth started a new plan a few days ago and I am loving it! I did a similar study with them two summers ago so I am excited to work through this one. Is anyone else doing it??

Bennett | 6 Months

Happy 1/2 birthday Bennett Tucker! It's really hard to believe that six months have already passed. You are such an incredibly happy baby and we are so thankful for you. We have had a fun month and I can't wait to see what the rest of the summer brings.

Weight/Height: Bennett goes to the doctor next week but at his last appointment (a little over 5 months old) he was 17 lbs

Hair: Bennett had his first hair cut this month!

Eyes: The prettiest blue eyes I ever did see : )

Clothes: 6-9 months in shirts and 3-6 in pants/shorts. He is starting to need more 9 month stuff.

Diapers: Size 2

Sleeping: Ugh. Sleep was pretty rough this month. Bennett had a terrible cold for two weeks and that had him waking up in the middle of the night with a stuffy nose. He usually went right back to sleep when we went in to give him his paci but it was still pretty frustrating. He also decided his new wakeup time is 6:00am instead of 7:00!

Likes: Seeing his bottle! I seriously need to record him when I go to the fridge to get his bottle out..he freaks! He also likes going on stroller rides and playing in his Jumperoo. He has also started sitting up and seems to really like doing that and playing with the dogs. We played in his baby pool a few times this month and he loved splashing in the water.

Dislikes: Same old, same old...being hungry, being hot, & being tired. Really though he is the happiest baby!

Eating: Here is a sample of Bennett's eating schedule lately...

7:00 am- 7.5 oz bottle
8:30am- jar of fruit with rice cereal
10:30- 7.5 oz bottle
11:30am- 1/2 jar of fruits, 1/2 jar of veggies
3:00pm- 7.5 oz bottle
4:00pm- 1/2 jar of fruits, 1/2 jar of veggies
7:30 7.5 oz bottle

Milestones: Bennett is consistently rolling over forwards and backwards and started sitting up. He can sit up unassisted for a pretty long time. He will sometimes fall back if he gets too excited but overall I think we can definitely say we have an official sitter! He has been trying SO hard to crawl. He does his best practice in his crib when he should be sleeping ; )

Baby items we can't live without: If you follow me on Instagram you know we can't get enough of Bennett's monkey pool! He would sit in there all day.. I need to get some little toys for him to play with in there. Also still loving the Fisher Price Jumperoo (similar here)! We also used our Pop 'n Play a lot outside. I love it because it has the big cover to protect him from the sun. And of course Bennett is teething like crazy so he has not been able to get enough of his teething rings.

Our Current Schedule {Vol. 2}

A few months ago I posted about our daily schedule and since then a lot has changed so I thought it would be fun to update! I'm thinking I may do these posts every few months or so.

We are still using Moms on Call and still LOVING it. It has been instrumental in our daily lives to keep Bennett on a schedule and he has done really well with it. I am very thankful that everyone who watches BT during the week (including daycare!) has stuck to our schedule as well. Now that I'm home with him for the summer our schedule looks a little different since I'm the one mainly taking care of him now (yay for being a teacher!)

sample schedule from the moms on call app

6:00/7:00 Bennett's sleeping patterns have been crazy recently. It all started when we went to the lake for the weekend about a month ago and he got sick. He woke up at 6am both mornings we were at the lake and ever since then he has been waking up anywhere from 6-6:30 instead of his usual 7:00. Not sure what that's all about but maybe it will sort it self out soon! This particular morning he woke up at 6:00.

6:00 I changed BT's diaper & fed him a bottle (7.5 oz) I usually take him back to our room to feed him.

6:30 I took Bennett into the living room and put him in his Mama Roo while I cleaned up. Sometimes he will fall back asleep but usually he just watches TV or plays with the mobile on his MR. During this time I clean up anything that was left out from the day before, make sure bottles are ready for the day, and get his medicine ready (BT takes Nexium once a day in the mornings for reflux).

7:00 If it's a daycare day I start getting Bennett ready but if I'm home with him I will feed the dogs and make myself breakfast. This morning I had a plain English Muffin from Trader Joes. If Bennett is asleep this is when I do my quiet time, catch up on e-mails, and read blogs. If he's awake (like he is right now) I will do it during his morning nap.

**We decided to keep BT in daycare his normal two days a week during the summer a) so he doesn't lose his spot, and b) to keep him on schedule and give me a chance to do school/house work uninterrupted.

7:15 If Bennett is still awake I will take him out of his MR and either play with him on the floor or let him play in his Jumperoo.

8:00 I fed Bennett his first baby food feeding of the day. (I've had a few people ask why we started solids "so early" and all I can say is we follow to recommendations of our pediatrician and moms on call). For the first feeding BT has 1/2 jar of fruit with rice cereal.

8:30 Bennett usually goes down for his morning nap. Today he wasn't having any part of it so we went on a quick walk until he fell asleep. I brought him back inside and put him in his Mama Roo for the rest of his nap.

9:30 Bennett woke up and we played for a while together on the floor. He is rolling around like crazy and trying so hard to crawl. He's definitely got a ways to go until he can do it on his own though : )

10:00 Usually BT takes another bottle at 10:30 but since he woke up so early this morning he wanted it at 10.

10:30-12:30 This is usually the time I run any errands. Today we went to Adam's work, Trader Joe's, and Target

12:30 I unloaded groceries and put them away while Bennett played in his Jumperoo

1:00 Bennett ate his second meal of baby food. I usually give him another jar at 11:30 but since we were out running errands it waited until we got home. For this feeding I usually do a 1/2 jar of fruit and a 1/2 jar of veggies or a full jar of veggies. Today he just had a jar of sweet potatoes.

1:30 Bennett went down for another nap

2:00 BT woke up & we went to Walmart to get a new pool for him. I bought the same one to keep at my parent's house but we needed one here too : ) I also picked up ChickFilA on the way home for lunch.

3:00 Bennett played in his pool while the dogs played in the backyard

4:00 Bennett took another short nap

4:30 Adam got home and played with Bennett for a while so I could rest.

5:00 We took turns prepping for dinner & keeping BT occupied

6:45 I put BT in the bath while Adam got dinner started (salmon, zucchini chips, & rice)

7:00 I fed Bennett his last bottle

7:30 I let Bennett lay in his Mama Roo for a minute until he fell asleep (I don't normally do this but he's been having a tough time falling asleep in his crib the last few nights..). I ate dinner while he fell asleep and about ten minutes later I went to his room, turned his diffuser and sleep sheep on, and put him down.

8:00 Adam and I made some cookies & got settled in for way too many hours of trash TV (bachelorette, southern charm reunion, & teen mom reunion!)

I hope you enjoyed taking a peak into our day! Having a 6 month old is super super exhausting and fun!

June Goals

This year is seriously flying by! I cannot believe it is already June. I am officially in summer mode and loving every second of my time with Bennett.

May Goals
1. Finish my 2nd year teaching and start my summer as a stay at home mom ; )
2. Continue the bikini series
3. Celebrate my first Mother's Day
4. Print pictures of Bennett and get a few canvases made for his room.

I successfully finished out my 2nd year teaching and it was definitely bittersweet. I had THE best class this year and was so sad to see them go. It was also a little awkward because at that point I wasn't sure if I was returning the next year (I am) so I didn't really know if it was a "goodbye" or "see ya later."

I have continued with the Bikini Series and have really been impressed with my results. I am no where near what I was before Bennett but that's okay! I have really worked hard on being okay with what my body looks like post-pregnancy.

I got to celebrate my first Mother's Day and it was such a sweet day. We spent the morning at church and BT gave me a flower ; ) We spent the rest of the day at the pool..perfection!

I did print a ton of pictures (and finally ordered Chat Books!) but I am holding off on the canvases for now..just not sure what I really want them for.

June Goals
1. Have a garage sale
2. Give my first ever Matron of Honor speech at my BFF's wedding (AHH!)
3. Take Bennett to the beach and Disney!
4. Celebrate our 2nd anniversary with a trip to Boston! (Have any recommendations for us while were there?? Leave them in the comments!)

Pretty easy "goals", right? ; ) We have a fun but BUSY month ahead!
