Halloween 2015!

Our Halloween started off on a rather scary note. Bennett had his first major accident and it was all completely my fault. Talk about mama guilt!! I put Bennett on the bed while I got a shirt out of the drawer and of course he decided to nose dive off the bed, straight onto the hardwood floor. After a call to the pediatrician, Tylenol, and lots of TLC he was fine just sporting a huge knot on his head. With his wild and independent spirit I know it won't be his last accident.

Since Adam was out of town at the Georgia game we spent the day at my parent's house. We had lots of family come over during the game and for trick-or-treating.

I was semi-worried about BT's costume because every time I have tried it on him he has lost his mind when I put the mane on. Thankfully with all the attention he was getting he ate it up and only tried to take it off a few times :)

I hope everyone had a great Halloween!

Another Pumpkin Patch Weekend!

This past weekend Adam, Bennett, and I packed up and headed to Mississippi. We left after work on Friday and came back early Sunday morning. It was a short, but sweet, trip. We always love getting to spend a weekend with some of our favorite people :) Bennett especially loved getting to hang with #TheColePups and feed them all.the.food!

We woke up Saturday morning, had a yummy breakfast of waffles, and then headed out to the pumpkin patch. Nicole was so sweet to take some pictures of Bennett for us : ) We are always so thankful for her.

Nicole and I have been planning to get another tattoo for a little while now so we decided this weekend would be the perfect time to do it together. I couldn't be happier with what I got and the location. There was a moment of indecisiveness when I couldn't decide where I wanted the tattoo but I'm really glad I got it where I did : )

My tattoo is very personal and reflects the exact sentiments of my heart for Christ. No matter what happens in my life, it is well with my soul because I know who is ultimately in control of my life. I fully trust that. Recently we went through a tough situation and THIS song was constantly on repeat. I knew it was exactly what I wanted for my tattoo. I love that Nicole and I were able to do this together to remember this season of life.

Pumpkin Patch Fun!

I'm pretty sure every mama dreams of taking their littles to the pumpkin patch every fall! This was something I was really looking forward to and we made it happen this weekend.

Friday night our friends Katie (my college roommate) and Trey came into town with their little guy, Powell. The boys had never met so Katie and I were excited to get them together. We decided to go to the pumpkin patch for just a little while to get some pictures & then head to dinner. Bennett LOVED the pumpkins and was so happy.

I had planned to go back to the pumpkin patch again Saturday with my parents, brother, and Carolyne-Grace while Adam was in Tennessee for the Georgia game but the weather was nasty so BT and I ended up just spending the day at my parent's house watching football.

It was a devastating day to be a Georgia fan, that's for sure. Between Nick Chubb's injury (don't watch the replay, it literally makes me want to throw up..) and the loss to Tennessee I was ready to call it a night pretty early.

We are hoping to make it back to the pumpkin patch soon and actually ride some of the rides, play with the animals, and go on the hay ride!

joy in the midst of motherhood

You can find this same post over on Bloom today for Nicole's 31 Days of Finding Joy in the Lord challenge. Go check it out, as well as the other posts in the series!

There’s diaper bags to pack, bottles to clean, lunch to be prepared, clothes to be laid out for the next day, 1000 toys to be cleaned up, laundry to put away. Motherhood can be tough. Keeping it all together seems nearly impossible sometimes. Long gone are the days of only being responsible for myself. I now have a little one that depends on me for his every need. On top of that, I also have a husband to take care of and a classroom full of kiddos who deserve the very best from their teacher. It’s easy to get overwhelmed and let all of these beautiful blessings turn into burdens. Being joyful in the midst of being a working mama is something that I have had to really be conscious about. Not just happy, but truly joyful in the Lord for the opportunity to be a wife, mama, and teacher.

I have to choose daily to fight for joy. If I am not intentional with looking for joy in the midst of lost pacis and messy classrooms I will not be able to experience the full capacity of joy the way the Lord intends for me to. Even when my circumstances are less than ideal I can still be all that He calls me to be and I can do it with joy.

John Piper has a great quote about fighting for joy that has stuck with me since I first read it a few years ago: “I don’t mean we make peace with darkness. We fight for joy. But we fight as those who are saved by grace and held by Christ.”

Finding joy in the journey of motherhood is not just about embracing the chaos and being happy. It’s about understanding the magnitude of the grace of Jesus and not letting messy moments overshadow the joy that he has put in my heart as a mama.

Toddler Fall Fashion

Since the temperatures are starting to drop here in Georgia (aka it's 80 degrees, not 100!) I am getting really excited about fall! I have been stocking up on new fall clothes for Bennett and they have me absolutely giddy. Dressing a toddler is so much fun and I am loving some of my recent finds. Most of my favorite places to shop for Bennett are Gap, Old Navy, our local consignment store--A Child's Closet, and of course Freshly Picked for shoes!

Dressing a boy is so easy. Bennett pretty much lives in his Gap blue jeans, some sort of button up or t-shirt, and his moccasins. If he's having a more casual day he will wear Gap cotton shorts or sweat pants. If you took a peek into Bennett's closet you would see some very similar items to the board below.

Where are some of your favorite places to shop for your littles??

October Goals

I am loving my new blog name and think it fits me 100% perfectly ; ) This past month has been a little crazy and a lot has gone on. I am so happy to have October here and kind of put the summer behind us.

Even in the midst of a crazy season I was actually able to accomplish some goals this month.

September Goals
1. Start buying things for Bennett's birthday party (so I'm not totally broke in December buying everything!) I have purchased his invitations and a couple decorations. I have also nailed down the menu and his smash cake. I need to work on the final guest list and continue finding decorations. Thankfully the theme I chose doesn't require a ton of decor and our venue speaks for itself and allows me to use less!
2. Spend a weekend with two of my favorite blog friends!! I had THE BEST weekend with Nicole and Victoria a few weeks ago. It was so nice to put my mama job on pause and have a fun girl's weekend. I posted a picture on IG and talked about how important it is as a mama to take a little time off to rejuvenate with friends. These girls breathe life into me and I am so thankful for their honest friendship.
3. Continue bible journaling  I did continue reading and using my bible journal but I definitely didn't do it as consistently as I would have liked. I have been doing a couple different studies and kind of need to make a decision on what I want to do instead of trying to do so much!

1. Take Bennett to the pumpkin patch!
2. Have a fun family road trip ; )
3. Enjoy Bennett's first Halloween.
4. Blog more!!!

Bennett | 10 Months

I cannot believe we have reached double digits! I was telling Adam the other day that somedays it feels like the last ten months have flown by, but other times it feels like I've never lived without Bennett. I honestly don't know how I lived 24 years of my life without him!! He is an absolute dream come true.

We have had a fun month around here and BT is up to a lot of new things.

Weight/Height: At his 9 month appointment Bennett was 20lbs (30th%) and 29in (98th%). Ever since Bennett started crawling and moving around everywhere he hasn't been putting on weight as fast ; ) He is tall and skinny according to the charts but definitely still looks like a linebacker to us!!

Hair: It's past time for another hair cut (third). His hair is still super thick and looks hilarious right when he wakes up.

Eyes: Blue!

Clothes: We have been stocking up on fall clothes this month and have found some really great deals. We have a really great consignment store in town that has mostly designer/boutique brand clothes and I have found a ton there. Also, gap is always a go-to for us!

Diapers: Size 3 but will definitely be getting into 4's soon.

Sleeping: We usually put Bennett down by 7:00 and he will sleep until about 6:30. Some mornings he will wake up early but we don't get him out until 6:30. He is learning this and will either go back to sleep or sit up and "talk" until we come get him.

Likes: This past month has been full of trying new foods and one of his favorites is pancakes! He eats 3 mini-pancakes most mornings and would probably eat 10 if I let him.

Dislikes: I honestly can't think of anything off the top of my head that he really disliked this month!

Eating: Bennett gets a 7.5oz bottle in the morning when he wakes up, breakfast (mini pancakes, cheerios) for breakfast, snacks throughout the day (puffs, fruit, veggies, quesadillas, etc.), baby food occasionally (mostly pouches for snacks), 2 sippy cups of formula throughout the day, whatever we eat for dinner, and a 7.5oz bottle before bed.

Milestones: Bennett got 3 teeth this month! Teething is not easy for our boy but he made it through getting one bottom tooth and both top teeth at the same time. He looks super cute (and big!) with his new little teeth.

Baby items we can't live without: Bennett has been obsessed with his walker this month. He is still a little scared to walk by himself but will literally run through the house with his walker. He is also obsessed with books and trucks. It is so fun to watch him play in his playroom!

I can't believe we are only two months away from his first birthday! Talk about the fastest year EVER. I have been busy buying invitations and decorations and hope to have everything ready well in advance so I don't have to worry about it ; ) Here is a little sneak peek at the venue we picked for his party....

so so excited!
