Our Favorite Christmas Traditions

There is nothing I love more than a good tradition! I will go to great lengths to ensure we participate in every single Christmas tradition possible. I wanted to share some of my absolute favorite traditions that we partake in year after year (or used to..)

1. Macy's Pink Pig - This one may seem a little weird to those outside of Atlanta, but anyone who grew up in the area knows exactly what the Pink Pig is! This is a big event for our family, and is especially big now that there are a lot of kiddos. We plan a day every year to go with all of my grandmothers, aunts, cousins, and babies on my mom's side of the family. We usually do a little shopping, ride the pig, and eat dinner somewhere.

2. Pictures with Santa - This is an obvious one that most families do but ours is a little different. We have been going to the same Santa since my first Christmas (took a few years off between teenage years and having my own child). We drive a great length to get to him but it is so worth it because he is such a great Santa, and if you ask any of us..he is the only "real" one ; ) The poor mall that he is at is in terrible condition now but we still make the yearly trip to see our old friend.

my cousins and I went back to see him a few years ago for a picture for our Memama :)

3. Christmas Lights at the Lake - About 15 miles from where I grew up is Lake Lanier. Every year they put on an amazing light display that you drive through. This is one of my absolute favorite traditions and I never let us miss it! Over the years they have added more than just lights and now you can see santa, buy ornaments, roast marshmallows, and do a ton of wintery activities (snow tubes, ice skating, etc.)

4. Christmas PJ's - Again, this is another one that most families do but it's something that I love. Every Christmas Eve when we were growing up we were gifted matching Christmas PJ's. I am excited to start doing this with Bennett this year!

5. Cookie & Play Day - Growing up every year my Memama would have all the cousins over for a "cookie & play day." We would bake cookies and practice our annual Christmas play that we would put on for our family on Christmas Eve. I love looking back at pictures from those days. We always had so much fun! I hope we can continue the tradition once all the cousins have kiddos of their own.

Bennett's First Birthday Party

This past weekend we had Bennett's first birthday party! We are so thankful for all of the family + friends that came out to celebrate our little lumberjack. We had the best time and everything went great! The number one thing people commented on was the venue. We were SO pleased with how everything turned out and could not recommend Broad 9a enough!

Bennett was so funny eating his cake. He was very timid at first and was just picking at it and then eventually he started really digging in : )

Bennett got SO many goodies at his party. His playroom is officially at maximum capacity ; ) We'll have to find a way to make room for Christmas gifts soon too. Such a loved little boy!

Bennett | ONE Year!

HOW in the world am I already doing his ONE year update?! I look forward to doing these updates every month but this one (my last) is a little harder than all the rest. I am so proud of the sweet, independent, adventurous little boy Bennett is turning into but I would give ANYTHING in the world to have a few more days of sweet newborn cuddles. Our lives have been completely changed in the last year. Being a mama is all I've ever dreamed of and I do not take this blessing lightly.

Height/Weight: 22 lbs, 30 in

Hair: BT is ready for his fourth hair cut already! His hair grows so stinking fast but I love it so much!

Eyes: The prettiest blue ever.

Clothes: Mostly 9 month pants and 18 month tops.

Diapers: We switched to size 4 this month.

Sleeping: He still goes to bed at 7:00pm and sleeps until 6:30 or 7:00am. For the past few weeks though he has been sleeping until 7:15 or 7:30am.

Likes: Bennett is obsessed with drumming on anything and everything he can find. He takes pens, pencils, sticks, whatever he can use as a drum stick and goes to town. I have a coffee mug of colored pencils on my desk and whenever he sees them he goes nuts until I give him 2 to carry around and bang on everything..maybe we have a little musician on our hands!

Dislikes: Having his clothes or diaper changed. You would think we were physically hurting him with the way he screams!!!

Eating: Bennett eats anything and everything!! For breakfast he loves bananas, toast, cereal, yogurt, and biscuits. For lunch he usually eats left overs from dinner the night before, and for dinner he eats whatever we're eating. His favorite meal is probably pot roast. He eats so much of it!! We are starting to work on eating with a fork but he much rather use it as a drum stick..

Milestones: Bennett celebrated his last first holiday, Thanksgiving! We had three different Thanksgivings with family and BT ate so much food at each one!!

Baby items we can't live without: high chair, fisher price sit-me-up floor seat, stroller.

Thank you so much to everyone who has followed along for the last year. We love that you love our sweet boy!!

A Year of BT

Tomorrow my baby will be ONE. I have been extremely emotional the past few weeks. I have been looking through pictures and reminiscing on this past year. I am in complete disbelief with how fast this year has flown by.

Holiday Gift Guide: For the Home

Over the past month I have spent a lot of time shopping for the special people in my life and some people are just way harder to shop for than others! I thought it would be fun to create a couple of gift guides featuring things that I have actually purchased for people this year. This first one is all about gifts for the home. I have several people in my life who have recently moved into new homes and I knew I wanted to take this opportunity to get them a little something special. Some of my favorite places to shop for home decor are Anthropologie, Pier One, Homegoods, and even Nordstrom. Here is a round up of a few things I've purchased, as well as a couple other goodies that homeowners would be sure to love!

December Goals

Two posts in one day! I wanted to go ahead and get my December goals posted today so I could move on to some fun holiday gift guides the rest of the week.

November Goals
1. Finalize the plans for Bennett's first birthday (and cry everyday because my baby is turning ONE!)
2. Plan + buy Christmas gifts. Ideally I'd like to be done with this after Cyber Monday.
3. Decorate for Christmas while I'm on Thanksgiving break.

I am happy to say I completed all of my goals from last month. Party planning is in full effect this week, I planned and bought almost all of my gifts (1 or 2 people left to buy for but I know what I'm getting), and we decorated for Christmas the day before Thanksgiving! Last year I was 39 weeks pregnant on Thanksgiving and did not decorate much at all. We had a very simple Christmas with our newborn babe and it was perfect. But this year I wanted to go all out as much as possible for Bennett's 2nd Christmas. He loves the Christmas tree and has done really well with not messing with it. He stands in front of it and just points :)

December Goals
1. Celebrate Bennett's first birthday!
2. Go see the Christmas lights at the lake.
3. Go to the Pink Pig with ALL the cousins.
4. Breakfast with Santa
5. Celebrate a fun weekend away with Adam!

We a busy, but FUN, holiday month ahead! I am looking forward to making it through the next couple of weeks of work and then taking off a good bit of time to spend with my boys : )

Bennett's First Birthday Party Theme

When it came time to pick a theme for Bennett's party I knew I wanted something "wintery" but wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do. Of course, I hit Pinterest like a mad woman and found exactly what I was looking for! I decided to do a lumberjack party and I am SO excited with how it's all coming together.
