Shep [3 Months]

I feel like we are officially out of the newborn phase and I feel like we survived it well! It is definitely much easier the second time around just because we knew (mostly) what to expect. Obviously Shep is not exactly like his brother but for the most part navigating the newborn months was much easier this time around : )

Weight/Height: We don't go back to the doctor until his 4-month well check the middle of January so I will have to update after that.

Hair: Shep's hair is still dark and pretty thin.

Eyes: Still very blue. Somehow I think I got another blue eyed boy! Adam has brown eyes and I have blue eyes so I figured at least one of our children would have dark eyes but so far they take after their mama in that department.

Clothes: Some 0-3 month still but mostly 3-6 months at this point. Shep's drawers are packed full thanks to big brother!!

Diapers: Still size 1 but we definitely need to switch to 2's

Sleeping: For the most part Shep sleeps about 9 hours through the night. He is still sleeping swaddled in his Rock-n-Play but we will be moving him to his crib full-time once I'm on Christmas break. We tried to transition him to his crib while I was on Thanksgiving break but he just was not having it. Sleep is definitely one of the areas that Shep and Bennett are not alike. Bennett was sleeping through the night, in his crib, by 8 weeks. Shep is just not as secure in his crib as Bennett was (and still is), so the transition has been a lot harder this time. Honestly I am just so tired most of the time that I would rather him sleep in his RNP and sleep the whole night then to put him in his crib and have to keep getting him back to sleep. Like I said though, Christmas break is coming soon and he will definitely be going to his crib no matter what ; )

Likes: Cuddling, watching his brother, and laughing at his daddy

Dislikes: Not much upsets our sweet boy but he does get upset when he gets super hungry or tired.

Eating: Shep takes 5 bottles a day with 6oz of formula in each one. He no longer takes any feedings in the middle of the night but does usually wake up early (around 5:30 or 6) for his first bottle. Hoping to get to 7am very soon ; )

Milestones: Shep has been "talking" so much this month. He has also let out a few chuckles. Still waiting on that full on belly laugh but the little coo's are super cute!!

Baby items we can't live without: This month we have really used our Fisher Price Sit-me-up Floor Seat a TON. It is perfect for when we're trying to get ready and he is awake. He has started trying to play with the little toys on it so that has been fun to watch.

Christmas Traditions

I'm back again today linking up with Victoria and Sarah to share our Christmas traditions! This post is definitely my favorite of the series because I.LOVE.TRADITIONS. They are truly my love language and I am so happy to have so many wonderful traditions with my family this time of year.

(1) Thanksgiving North Campus walk
This isn't a Christmas tradition but it's a tradition that kind of kicks off Christmas in my mind. For the last several years (even before kiddos) Adam and I have gone to UGA's North Campus for a walk on Thanksgiving morning. It has become something I look forward to every year, especially now with kids. I love looking at our pictures from that walk through the years and seeing how we've grown and changed. It's something I hope we continue doing for a long time.

(2) The Pink Pig
For those who didn't grow up in Atlanta like I did this may seem like a silly tradition but for us it is something we look forward to every year! It has really become a big deal for our extended family, complete with coordinating outfits for the kiddos! & if BT's reaction to the pig is any indication of how breakfast with Santa will go on Saturday then I'm sure it will be a great time ; )

(3) Breakfast with Santa
This is something we started last year but I know it will continue to be a yearly tradition! We have our breakfast this year scheduled for next year. I'm anxious to see how Bennett reacts this year because last year he was not having it ; )

(4) Roomie Christmas Dinner
I am so lucky to have lived with 2 really great friends during college who are still some of my very best friends! We are constantly in a group text with each other and talk pretty much every single day even though we don't live near each other anymore. One of my favorite Christmas traditions is that no matter what we make sure to go to dinner with each other right after Christmas day. It is so much fun to sneak away from our kiddos and husbands to spend some girl time together reminiscing on our fun days of living carefree together!

Christmas Wish List

[via]

I am linking up with Victoria and Sarah over the next few days for some fun Christmas themed blog posts! Christmas is most definitely my favorite time of the year...especially now with two kiddos to celebrate with!

This year for Christmas we decided collectively as a family that the gift giving is going to scale down MAJORLY. Even though we have decided to give less gifts there are definitely still a few things that are on my wish list ; )

  • This past summer I practically lived in these Lululemon Tracker Shorts and I would love to have another pair.
  • Last Christmas I was gifted these booties from Nordstrom in black but I think the grey leather pair are super cute too!
  • I'm slowly starting to ease back into my Tone it up workout routine and nothing is more motivating for me to workout than a new pair of Nikes.
  • I use this eye shadow palette daily and am in desperate need of a new one!
  • And one thing I already got as an early Christmas gift from my parents is a rose gold Apple watch! I am loving it so much already!
Nothing too crazy but definitely some things that I would love to have! Check back over the next couple of days for even more Christmas fun (including a Christmas home tour!!)

Shep [2 Months]

Shep is TWO months old (as of the 7th)! This past month has been super busy and filled with fun. Shep went to Athens Church for the first time, celebrated his first Halloween, & I went back to work!

Weight/Height: Shep is 12.5 lbs and 23.5 in. Same exact measurements as Bennett at two months. I felt so confident that Bennett was a bigger baby but I guess not!

Hair: Still brown and still falling out on top.

Eyes: Shep has his daddy's eye shape and his mommy's eye color : ) I love is big blue eyes!

Clothes: We transitioned into 0-3 and 3 month clothes a couple weeks ago. I have loved pulling out all of Bennett's old clothes for him. Not only is it great on a financial level, it is also fun to see him in his big brother's clothes :)

Diapers: Size 1 but we will probably move to size 2 within the next month or so.

Sleeping: Shep drinks his last bottle at 8:30pm and then sleeps until 3:00am or 3:30am. Then he is back up around 6:00am. Hoping for some longer stretches this month ; ) Shep is still sleeping in his Rock-n-Play in our room. I was waiting until he was sleeping through the night to move him to his crib but I may go ahead and move him soon hoping that it will help him sleep longer. It almost seems like he is waking up in the middle of the night out of habit because he pretty much falls back asleep as soon as he starts drinking his bottle. He finishes his bottle and I put him right back in his Rock-n-Play without a peep. I'm going to start trying to follow the Moms on Call sleep training methods for when he wakes up to see if he will fall back asleep.

Likes: Eating, taking a bath, seeing his big brother, & snuggling with mommy.

Dislikes: Getting out of the bath and being tired.

Eating: Shep drinks a 5.5oz bottle every 3 hours during the day and once in the middle of the night. We are still following, and loving, the Moms on Call schedule for sleeping and eating.

Milestones: Started daycare 3 days a week. We are so thankful for the amazing people at ATP that take care of our babies during their time at daycare. Shep also went with me to vote in his first election : ) The sweet pollers even gave him his own "future voter" sticker.

Baby items we can't live without: Rock-n-Play, MamaRoo, 4Moms bathtub, Fisher Price Sit-me-Up floor seat, and the Solly Baby Wrap!

Weekend Recap

This past weekend was incredibly FULL! Saturday specifically I felt like I was in a million different places throughout the day. The season of life we're in is crazy busy, but crazy fun!!

Friday night Adam and I took Bennett and Shep to the UGA homecoming parade! I love that we live so close to downtown that were able to do stuff like this super easily. Bennett loved watching the Red Coat band and seeing all of the floats. We will definitely be making this a yearly family tradition.

Saturday morning we started our morning super early dropping Adam off at the tailgate and then the boys (I love saying that!!!) and I went to watch Carolyne-Grace cheer. This was her last game of the season so I was glad we got to go to one more : ) Bennett LOVES going to her games and can't wait until he is able to go out on the field and play. He asks me over and over "Mommy, play?" Won't be long...

After her game my mom and I took Bennett, Shep, and Carolyne-Grace to the fall festival. We didn't have a ton of time, but we were able to do a few things. Bennett painted a pumpkin, CG got her face painted, and they both rode a pony : ) My mom and I joked that we need to go back next year without the kids so we could actually look around at all the cute booths!

After the fall festival I dropped my mom and the kids off at my parent's house and headed back into Athens to pick Adam up from the game. We rushed home to get ready and then headed back out to watch our friends Elise and Michael get married! The wedding was beautiful & we loved hanging out with our friends!

Sunday we made it to church for the first time since Shep was born! He did a great job in the service and didn't make a peep. He will start going to Waumba Land (preschool ministry at our church) in a few weeks but for now he will just go to service with us : )

Pumpkin Patch 2016

Last Thursday night we decided to go to Milledge Ave Baptist Church's pumpkin patch!

I wanted to take a few pictures of Bennett but in true toddler fashion it was nearly impossible. We had fun watching Bennett run around though so it was still a good time. We even got to see a wedding..yep, a wedding..in the pumpkin patch ha!

Bennett wanted to sit on alllllll the pumpkins

This picture describes BT perfectly at this age..always on the move!

I love getting to enjoy holidays with this boy. He is at such a fun age!!

Friday Favorites [no.1]

Happy Friday!! I am hanging out at the house with the boys this morning and decided to share a few of my current favorites while they're napping ; ) I'm hoping to turn this into a semi-frequent thing!

[1] Fall clothes
I found a couple cute tops at Loft the other day that I have been loving! I know they will be great for fall, but will also take me all the way through spring!

[2] This is Us
Y'ALL. I am obsessed with this show. I look forward to it every Tuesday more than I've ever looked forward to a show. If you haven't seen it you need to catch up NOW!

[3] Fall activities
We went to a local church pumpkin patch last night and it was so fun seeing how excited Bennett was! We have a bigger pumpkin patch in town that has tons of fun stuff for kids (hay rides, slides, petting zoo, etc.) and I hope we are able to make it to that one before the season ends!

[4] My car!
Back in the spring we traded in my Honda CRV for a GMC Acadia. We knew with having two kids that it would be nice for me to have a bit more room. & boy were we right! It has been SO nice to have the extra space now that we have more stuff to bring. The DVD player has also been a lifesaver ;)

[5] Fall classroom activities!
Even though I'm not currently in the classroom (love you, maternity leave!) I am still obsessing over all the cute fall activities I am seeing on Instagram/Pinterest. I'm glad I'll be back for Halloween/November so I can partake in some of the fall fun with my kiddos!

Have a happy weekend!

Life Lately

Things around here are still moving pretty slow. Shep and I spend most of our days cuddled up with each other on the couch while Bennett is at school. I have ventured out a couple times with each kiddo separately and a couple times with them together. The logistics behind getting out of the house with both kids by myself still scares me a little but we're getting there! I know all too soon it will become second nature and I will throw them both in the car and go just like we did when it was just BT :)

Last weekend I took both boys to watch CG cheer. Thankfully I had lots of people there to help me!

BT was all about his Uncle Blake since he was sharing his skittles ; )

CG and two of her favorite guys, her daddy & uncle Blake

CG and her mommy

 Love watching my girl cheer!

One of our favorite things to do to get out of the house is to go to Shugie & Mick Dad's house. Earlier this week I took BT over there after I picked him up from school and we played with CG in the driveway for a while. They are playing with a big box of Adam's old toys from when he was little.

We have been talking with Bennett about his Halloween costume for a couple weeks now. I really wanted him to be a firefighter and Shep to be a little dalmatian but BT had other plans. Every time I would ask him what he wanted to be he would say "Elmo!" So after school yesterday we went to find him an Elmo costume. He was SOOOO excited. I love kids and their random obsessions and I love that I have a child who is old enough to pick out their own costume!

We are headed to the pumpkin patch this weekend and I cannot wait!
